The new owners of this small wood could barely walk through it. Cherry laurel had spread under the canopy and several ash trees were dying back over the footpath.
What we did
In the first winter we made the path safe and removed the worst of the dead ash. The next year we cut and treated the laurel. In the third winter we thinned the remaining trees and planted oak, hazel, rowan and holly in the gaps.
The result
Light is reaching the woodland floor again, bluebells are coming back, and the family can walk the whole wood with their children.
